Can You Freeze Dry Olive Oil?
Not recommended. Olive oil is pure fat with no water, and freeze drying only removes water — so it can't be dried at all.
Freeze Drying Suitability
This is not recommended for freeze drying. Oils and fats contain no water to sublimate, so the process has nothing to act on.
How to Prepare It
There's no prep — pure fat is fundamentally incompatible with freeze drying.
Expected Texture
It stays liquid oil; nothing dries.
Storage
Even with the water removed, it doesn’t store or perform well after freeze drying, which is why it isn’t recommended.
Rehydration
Store oil normally in a sealed bottle away from light and heat.
Common Problems
With zero water content, there is literally nothing for freeze drying to remove.
