Can You Freeze Dry Parsley?
Yes. Parsley freeze dries excellently, holding its green color and flavor.
Freeze Drying Suitability
This is an excellent freeze drying candidate. Parsley is watery and low in fat, so it dries quickly into light flakes.
How to Prepare It
Wash, dry and spread in a single layer. Arrange everything in a single, even layer on the trays so it dries uniformly.
Expected Texture
Light and crumbly, easily crushed into flakes.
Storage
Once fully dry, seal it in Mylar bags with an oxygen absorber and keep it cool, dark and dry. Because it is low in fat, properly sealed it stays shelf-stable for a very long time.
Rehydration
Crumble into soups, sauces and seasoning blends.
Common Problems
Very few; store sealed to protect the aroma.
