Can You Freeze Dry Peanut Butter?
Not recommended. Peanut butter is mostly fat and oil with little water, so it won't freeze dry.
Freeze Drying Suitability
This is not recommended for freeze drying. Its very high oil content can't be removed by freeze drying, so it stays greasy.
How to Prepare It
No prep makes it suitable; the fat content is the fundamental problem.
Expected Texture
It stays oily and pasty rather than drying.
Storage
Even with the water removed, it doesn’t store or perform well after freeze drying, which is why it isn’t recommended.
Rehydration
Powdered peanut butter (defatted) is a better shelf-stable option.
Common Problems
With almost no water and abundant oil, freeze drying can't do anything useful.
